Julia Heslop is an artist and writer based in the North East of England. Her work focuses on the potentials for deep participation in recreating the urban environment.  She is undertaking a PhD in Human Geography at Durham University. This research aims to translate knowledge across borders, mobilising  approaches of self-build house construction from Albania to the UK to examine whether participation in housing offers a progressive stance on the shaping of homes and the urban environment.

Julia blogs at Unofficial Culture.
